Western K9 Security, in association with Obedience Plus is currently training Explosive, and Narcotic detection dogs. Our dogs are highly motivated with great search drive.
Detection canines receive yearly validations by the Justice Institute of BC.
Canines (explosive) are trained on the following basic odors:
- Smokeless Powder
- Black Powder
- Commercial Dynamite
- Ammonium Nitrate
- Primer Sheet (Flex-X)
- Detonator Cord
- TNT
- ANFO
Canines (narcotics) are trained on the following basic odors:
- Hashish
- Marijuana
- Heroin
- Cocaine
- Ecstasy
- Methamphetamine
Canines are trained to search the following environments:
- Buildings
- Baggage
- Vehicles
- Commercial Trucks
- Cruise Ships
- Trains
- Open Areas
EXPLOSIVES: Licensed (2010) with Natural Resources Canada, Explosives Regulatory Division.
NARCOTICS: Licensed (2010) with Health Canada, Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch.
We do not cross train our canines.
Explosive trained canines are trained to alert passively.
